Premier B-schools Indian Institute of Management - Ahmedabad (IIM-A) and Indian Institute of Management - Calcutta (IIM-C) have improved their position in the Financial Times (London) Global MBA Ranking-2018. As per the 2018 Financial Times (FT) ranking of masters in management (MIM), IIM-Ahmedabad climbed up two places and IIM-Calcutta have moved up five ranks from 2017 to be ranked at 19th and 23rd position respectively in the 2018 ranking list of top 100 business schools worldwide. IIM Bangalore, however, maintained its 26th position. IIM Ahmedabad and IIM Bangalore are at number one and number three position respectively in India. Interestingly, three IIMs are the only B-schools in India that find a place in the ranking table for 2018.
“We are happy that our efforts towards continuous improvement in our overall efforts are being acknowledged by international agencies,” Dr. Prashant Mishra, Dean of New Initiatives & External Relations, said. According to the statement, IIM (C) has been ranked at number one in Economics and number seven in finance, based on the 2015 graduates’ ratings of their own programme, subject-wise.
"Our alliance with CEMS and ESCP Europe have paved the way to garner double degree programme a success. Coupled with student exchange programme with globally well-known business schools, currently, IIM Calcutta is tied up with over 100 such schools and the exchange programme is gaining momentum every year. In 2017-18, 133 students from IIM Calcutta participated in an exchange programme, while 87 students from partner schools spent their term at IIM Calcutta," the release added.
University of St Gallen, Switzerland, and HEC Paris continued to be the Number 1 and Number 2 universities in the world, respectively. However, the London Business School has for the first time been ranked number 3. IE Business School, Spain has fallen 7 positions and ranked number 10 this year.
