IIM Calcutta is all set to launch its ‘Advanced Programme in Strategic Management’ from next month. According to the official update, IIM Calcutta’s APSM will be launched in September 2019. The programme has been designed as a 6-month training course for students who are aiming to develop their strategic thinking for management operations. The programme will help candidates develop a unique perspective for strategic management, right from inception to implementation of a management model.
What will APSM be about?
As discussed earlier, the Advanced Programme in Strategic Management will hone strategic thinking and understanding capacity of the candidates. The programme will help students develop management strategies that streamline individuals, institutions, firms and markets in a cohesive manner to improve the effectiveness of an organization. The programme will cover the following key areas of strategic management and planning:
· Industries and their Operations
· Law and regulation
· Institutional variation across nations
Why Advance Programme in Strategic Planning?
According to Prof. Mritiunjoy Mohanty, Programme Director, Advanced Programme in Strategic Management, IIM Calcutta, Strategic Planning and Management are two things that are the need of the hour in management sphere. Businesses which have to grow in competitive environments need strategic planning and seamless implementation to ensure continued growth. He further added that growth trajectory of an organization runs parallel to strategic thinking and therefore it becomes a pivotal part of management processes.
Mode of Learning
The APSM Programme will be a mix of both online as well as face to face learning model. Under the programme, students will be trained through a mix of live online sessions and face-to-face campus sessions.
Management Executives, who have minimum work experience of 7 years are eligible to participate in APSM. The programme is aimed at managers in organizations who are currently in roles that require them to handle strategic issues, or managers who are looking to move into such roles.
