The Indian Institute of Technology, Bhubaneswar is all set to hold its 7th annual convocation on September 22 at its Argul campus. According to the reports, Ashutosh Sharma, secretary of the department of science and technology, is scheduled to attend the ceremony. A total of 322 students will receive degrees on the day of convocation, said the official sources. Out of them, 152 are B Tech students, 91 M Tech, 69 M Sc and 10 Ph.D. students will be awarded degrees.
During the convocation ceremony, three medals will be awarded to meritorious B Tech students and six silver medals for M Tech and M Sc students of different schools. The student, who has topped in most of the subjects, will get President’s Gold Medal, said a senior IIT administrator.
“The degree recipients are advised to ensure that they have completed all the formalities including formalities of dues before the convocation begins,” said the IIT official statement. R V Rajakumar, who is the director of IIT Bhubaneswar, said that the rehearsal for annual convocation will be held on September 21. “We have organised a meet of alumni of the Institute on the eve of the convocation. Students can get a chance to meet and discuss with them about different issues,” he added.
R. V. Rajakumar said that in order to inspire the students of the national institute noted personalities will attend the convocation. “We have also arranged cultural function towards the end of the ceremony,” he added. The institute has recorded 95 percent placement in 2017-18. “Students are happy for the record placement,” said a senior IIT professor.
