The National Testing Agency has released a public notice in which they have clarified that Aadhar card will not be used as a mandatory document for the registration of the JEE Main 2019 examination. After 12 days since the registration begun, the NTA released this notice to avoid any kind of problems faced by the students. The NTA is an agency under the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD), Government of India which has started the registration process for both JEE Main and UGC NET recently and the process will end on September 30. The JEE Main 2019 will be conducted from January 6 to January 20 next year.
The NTA stated in the notice that, “In this connection, it is hereby clarified that while filling in online Application Form and as per the ‘Replica of Application Form’ given in Annexure VIII (page 39-40)(UGC-NET Bulletin December 2018) in the drop down box regarding ‘Identification Type’ and as also given on page 11, the Aadhaar number is only one of the types of identification and is not mandatory.”
"The note on page 11 of UGC-NET Bulletin December 2018 clearly provides that the candidates can also enter Passport number, Ration Card number, Bank Account number or any other valid Government identity number," it added.
The registration link is available on the official website and the students who want to take these mock tests can register through the official website. This registration link of the mock test is for the weekend test that is going to be conducted at online practice center of NTA.
The National Testing Agency also known as NTA has been established as an autonomous and self-sustained testing body to conduct entrance examinations for admission/fellowship in higher educational institutions.
