JEE Main January 2020: With the applications for JEE Main 2020 closed on October 10, 2019 data suggests an increase in the number of female applicants for the entrance examination. According to data released, more female candidates have shown interest in appearing for the engineering and architecture entrance examination to be conducted in January 2020.
As per data, compared to the previous year there has been an increase of 15, 247 female applicants for JEE Main January 2020. It must also be noted that it is for the first time that the National Testing Agency has opened the registrations for the EWS category students. Out of the total applications received, 81, 413 have registered under the General EWS Category. This, as per data is close to the number of SC category students appearing for the JEE Main 2020 January examination.
Close to 9.34 lakh students have applied for the first of the two JEE Main 2020 entrance examinations while close to 1.38 lakh students have applied for JEE Main January 2020 examination. This year the number of test-takers has increased especially for the architecture programme.
There has however been a decline in the number of male candidates applying for the entrance examination. As per data, there is a decrease in male applicants by 20,000 this year. Apart from this, there has also been a decrease in the number of SC and ST candidates.
According to the numbers provided a total of 11.18 lakh candidates have applied for the January 2020 engineering and architecture applications compared to the 11 lakh applicants in January 2019. It is for the first time since 2014 that the number of registrations for JEE Main examinations have increased after a continuous decline in the numbers for 5 years.
The application correction window for JEE Main 2020 January examinations has now opened. The last date for the candidates to make the corrections in the application form is October 20, 2019.
