Karnataka PU Exams from Friday, Paper Leak Mastermind Taken into custody

The Central Crime Branch has taken into custody the Pre University Exam question paper leak mastermind Shivakumaraiah, alias Guruji. Shivakumaraiah was responsible for leaking the II PU Chemistry exam paper twice in the year 2016. He was recently arrested in connection to the Gujarat Police Recruitment Question Paper Scam and came out on bail last week.

The Pre University Examinations Karnataka are scheduled to begin on 1st March 2019 and conclude on 18th March 2019. Over 6 lakh students are expected to sit for these examinations across the state. Shivakumaraiah was arrested 2 days ago, wherein he was taken into custody in connection to a cheating case, where he lured aspirants promising them the forest department jobs. A case was registered against him in Mahalakshmi Layout police limits and was transferred to the CCB as per the statement by Alok Kumar, additional commissioner of police (crime).

SR Umashankar the principal secretary for primary education and secondary department said that they have put in place enough measures to ensure that there is no malpractice during the examination this time. The examination question papers are being transferred using GPS equipped vehicles, treasury rooms where papers are kept are being monitored 24x7 using CCTVs and motion sensor devices to prevent thefts. He also stated that “As many as 1,013 chief superintendents and 1,028 assistant chief superintendents have been appointed to keep a vigil on the examination process. Also, 2,026 special squads will be active during the course of examination across the state.”
