Kerala Schools Closed: As per the latest update, the Kerala Government has ordered closure of Primary and Upper Primary Schools across the state and suspended all offline or physical classes on campus. While primary schools have been closed in the state, offline classes have been ordered to continue for Class 10 i.e. SSLC and Class 12 i.e. HS – Higher Secondary Classes. The news has been confirmed by a local daily, which said the state government has taken the decision keeping in mind surge in COVID-19 cases in the state.
Kerala CM chairs COVID-19 Review Meeting
Going by the news report filed in local daily, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan held review meeting to assess COVID-19 situation in the state today i.e. on 14th January 2022. During the meeting, officials from health and education department briefed the minister about the prevailing situation. Following the meeting, CM took the decision to suspend offline classes for Class 1 to 9 students and resume online classes. Kerala Schools closed announcement will now be followed by specific orders from schools themselves and share SOPs for offline classes with students.
Children’s Vaccination Drive to be Ramped Up
Keeping in mind the safety of students, especially those who are due to appear for board exams, the state government is planning to ramp-up the vaccination drive for children. The Kerala Health Department is expected to set-up more vaccination centres for children at schools to streamline the vaccination process for 15 to 18 year old students. Moreover, school principals and administrators have been asked to mobilize students and speak to parents to convince them to get their children and wards vaccinated.
