
The last date for submitting application forms for admission into a three-year postgraduate course in yoga and naturopathy has been extended to September 25 from September 21 by the Directorate of Indian Medicine & Homeopathy. According to reports, the application form was made available from September 3. Interested candidates can download the form the official website of state health directorate - www.tnhealth.org. Completely filled applications forms should be submitted on or before September 25 with a crossed demand draft of Rs 3,000.
The entrance exam for the course will be held on September 30 and counseling to fill the seats will be conducted on October 1. According to the notification, students with a regular bachelor of naturopathy and yogic science medical degree from Dr MGR Medical University, Tamil Nadu or equivalent degree from any other recognised university can apply for the course.
Earlier, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister announced that a ‘world-class’ yoga and naturopathy hospital, stated to be the first of its kind in the country, will be set up near Chennai at a cost of Rs 60 crore. The Chief Minister said that the hospital is being set up to encourage yoga and naturopathy, which played a key role in both preventing and curbing non-communicable diseases due to lifestyle changes.
The facility would be set up at the premises of Government Medical College at Chengelpet in an area of 50 acres and will have a teaching facility attached to it, offering graduate, post-graduate and research courses, he said. “I am happy to announce that a world-class International Yoga and Naturopathy Science Centre will be set up at a cost of Rs 60 crore,” the Chief Minister added.
