Thousands of students are left in the lurch as Telangana State Law Common Entrance Test or TS LAWCET 2018 has delayed the counselling of law students who want to take admissions in two-year LLM course in the academic year 2018-19. Candidates are requested to keep checking the official website lawcet.tsche.ac.in as some announcement in this regard is reportedly expected soon. Over 16,000 students have applied for TS LAWCET 2018. The academic session was supposed to start in August 2018 but aspirants are still waiting for the counselling process to begin.
TS LAWCET is a common entrance test conducted for admission to the LLB and LLM courses in the Colleges of Law in Telangana. The exam is conducted by Osmania University, Hyderabad on behalf of the Telangana State Council of Higher Education. Students want the counselling process to begin at the earliest as the delay in starting the academic session means that their course will suffer. "The academic year is supposed to begin in August but still there is no sign of the counselling process," Mohan Rao, one of the students who is waiting for counselling dates was quoted as saying by Deccan Chronicle.
According to The LAWCET convener Prof. S.B. Dwarakanath, the delay is being caused because the Bar Council of India has not released the list of approved colleges in the state. "LAWCET convener has to receive the list of all the approved law colleges by the Bar Council of India, Delhi, but they delayed the list this year," Dwarakanath was quoted as saying in the report. Dwarakanath added that he would start counselling immediately after getting the list. He said that the secretary of the Bar Council of India has assured that the list will be delivered in a week.
