Legendary Singer Lata Mangeshkar Passes Away: Maharashtra State Government has declared a public holiday tomorrow – 8th February 2022 following the death of legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar. All Schools, Colleges and Offices in Maharashtra will remain closed on Monday as a mark of respect towards Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar. The Veteran Singer passed away today – 6th February 2022 – Sunday, at the age of 92.
She was admitted to the ICU at Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital on 8th January 2022 after testing positive for COVID-19. She had mild symptoms during the initial phase of infection but was recommended hospitalization due to her age. During the treatment, she had shown consistent improvement until Saturday. She had developed pneumonia and due to her deteriorating condition, the hospital authorities put her on ventilator from which she couldn’t recover.
State Funeral for Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar
Following demise of the Legendary Singer, the government has announced State Funeral in her honour. Following the funeral, two-day National Mourning Period will be observed by all authorities to honour her life. The tri-colour will also fly at half-mast for next two days.

As a mark of honour towards Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar, Maharashtra Government has also announced Public Holiday on 7th February 2022 – Monday. Consequently, all schools, colleges and offices will remain closed tomorrow.
Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar – Nightingale of India

At the age of 15, she gave mutli-generational hit ‘“Aayega Aanewala” in film Mahal and since then her career has soared to new heights. During her career, she has lent her magical voice to over 30,000 songs in several languages and in turn won hearts of millions. Bharat Ratna, Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhusan and Dadasaheb Plake Awards are just a few of the honours received by the veteran singer.
