The Lucknow University, after the gap of one year, has finally decided to take enrollment for the PhD courses in the varsity. The aspirants who were eagerly waiting for the admission in the PhD courses at Lucknow University will not have to wait anymore as the university is likely to open the admission process for that in the month of September, this year. The new PhD programme, which was on hold for the final decision for the last 11 months, has now finally been passed by the higher education department. The PhD admissions for over 600 seats have been decided to be conducted in September last year, but it was withdrawn. However, LU did send the request to the education department, which was passed in August by the executive council, to the governor on September 15.
Raj Bhawan refused to give their consent to the ordinance. It had raised objections on the provision of extra weightage to aspirants who had qualified in Junior Research Fellowship and National Eligibility Test. It had also stated that the whole process of evaluation was quite complicated. The governor, who is also the chancellor of state universities, sent back the ordinance with several objections, in October.
The varsity again sent the proper revised ordinance in November last year for the approval. The ordinance was then sent by Raj Bhawan to the higher education department. It has now been successfully passed by the higher education authorities and will be sent to the varsity.
As per the reports by the Times of India, special secretary, higher education, Madhu Joshi stated “Finalizing LU’s PhD ordinance is in process. The university will be shortly sent the ordinance for admitting candidates to PhD.”
