About 2.11 lakh applications were received for Mumbai FYJC admissions this year. Out of the total students, 1.85 lakh students will be eligible for admissions through the general admission rounds that start today. There are 3.19 lakh seats across 849 junior colleges in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. The pass percentage of secondary school certificate (SSC) saw a dip this year which is why the education department allowed 98 prominent junior colleges in the MMR to increase their seats by 5-8%.

The city colleges, thus, said that it is difficult to predict a trend in the cut-offs of Mumbai FYJC merit list 2019 that will be announced. College principals said that they cannot predict the trend or if the cut-offs will be high although there is an increase in the number of seats. Rajpal Hande, Principal of Mithibai College said that it depends on where the applications of top scorers are concentrated.

Ashok Wadia, Principal of Jai Hind College, said that with the increase of seats in prominent colleges, it is likely that more students will get the college of their choice. He, however, also mentioned that the exact trend in cut-offs cannot be predicted with a lot of top scorers also coming in from the other boards. The total number of FYJC Seats in MMR 2019 is 319186 with 37071 seats in Arts, 102409 seats in Science, 174046 seats in Commerce and 5660 seats in HSVC courses.
