National Institute of Design (NID), in collaboration with Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ), recently organised a one-day design orientation programme on Design Clinic Scheme for MSMEs at it Ahmedabad campus. The orientation programme, an initiative of Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (M/o MSME), was attended by more than 150 participants including design experts, innovators, entrepreneurs, government officials, etc. It provided a platform to these people to interact with Design Expert/speakers which in turn helped them in understanding design methodology and benefits of design to MSME in their business, product, process, service, and operations.
Dr. Jitendra Sharma, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone, praised the government for providing world-class facilities at Vishakhapatnam for manufacturing of medical devices. Professor Pradyumna Vyas, director of National Institute of Design, said there's a huge potential in the sector which has been highly dominated by the import so far.
- To improve the manufacturing competitiveness through design insights on the process and strategic initiatives.
- To spread Design Awareness on the cluster level for MSMEs.
- Introduction to the national level Design Clinic Scheme.
- Establish clarity about design intervention and improving design understanding of how design practices will be followed for more competitive and futuristic outcome in the market scenario.
