Calendar for Next 8 Weeks
The new alternative academic calendar being released by the NCERT is in addition to the existing 4-week calendar that was released earlier. Using the alternative academic calendar, teachers and students can plan their academic activities, especially in line with the current prevailing situation due to Coronavirus pandemic and the closure of schools. The calendar is aimed at empowering students, teachers and school administrators and enables positive ways in which they can collectively deal with COVID-19 via online teaching and learning resources that can enable the best possible learning outcomes for the students.
Meaningful Engagement of Students during COVID-19
The main movie behind the release of alternative academic calendar for primary classes is to drive meaningful engagement among the students during their stay at home due to COVID-19. The ACC consists of 8-weeks study plan for different subjects that are mapped along with the regular classes, activities, resources and links that can be employed by students and teachers. The calendar maps important themes from chapters that are to be taught to the students and through activities and lessons, maps them against learning outcomes for the students.
