NEET Score Validity: MCI, in its official gazette notification, said that the validity of NEET score for admission to medical courses abroad is increased to three years from March 2019. This is really a good news for those candidates who want to pursue medical course abroad. MCI Gazette has further added to the Screening Test Regulations 2002 that the extended validity would be effective from 14 March 2019. The point to note is that the validity of NEET score for admissions in India is unchanged.
Previously, the candidates who want to pursue medical course abroad, need to get an eligibility certificate from the Ministry of Health. It was changed last year. Candidates, who qualify NEET, become eligible for obtaining eligibility certificate. As per the MCI notification, candidates need to qualify NEET become eligible to pursue medical course abroad.
As per the MCI Gazette notification No.MCI-201/2019-Eligi./Gen./187274, “In regulation 4 of the Screening Test Regulations, 2002, under heading “Eligibility Criteria” in Clause 4. 2(A), the following sentence shall be added after the existing provision: Furthermore, the result of NEET shall be valid for a period of three (3) years from the date of declaration of result, entitling a candidate to pursue MBBS or equivalent medical course including pre-medical/language course, if any, followed by MBBS or equivalent medical course.”
This move has been welcomed by the students who want to pursue medical courses abroad. Now, these students will get the eligibility certificate once they qualify NEET. The amendment in the score validity is effective from March 2019.
