NEET Result 2020 Declared Live Update @  8 PM: Cut-off / Minimum Qualifying Percentile

As per the details available right now, the National Testing Agency has also notified the minimum qualifying percentile for the medical entrance exam. Candidates need to score a minimum of the below-given percentile in order to qualify in the exam:

  • Unreserved: 50th percentile
  • OBC, SC, ST: 40th percentile
  • OR/EWS-PH: 45th percentile

NEET Result 2020 Live Update @ 6:30 PM: Total MBBS Seats on Offer

 From 2020 session onwards, NEET 2020 exam became the sole medical entrance test that will be employed in order to shortlist and facilitate admission to MBBS or undergraduate medical courses in the country. With this the seats for premier medical institutions including AIIMS and JIPMER, which previously used to hold their own independent entrance exams, were also added to NEET 2020 tally. Therefore, the total number of medical seats on offer through NEET 2020 exam currently for MBBS and BDS courses are 1,18,316. Of this, around 80,000 seats are available for MBBS courses of which 41,388 are available in Govt Medical Colleges whereas 1107 seats were added from AIIMS, JIPMER MBBS seats tally.

As per media reports, the NEET counselling process for Tamil Nadu state is likely to be delayed this year due to the 7.5% reservation issue for govt school students. Recently, the Tamil Nadu State Assembly today passed a bill allowing setting aside or reserving 7.5% of the total seats available in Medical Colleges of the state for students coming from Government Schools. A petition demanding implementation of this quota from this year has been filed in Madras High Court and has been posted for next hearing on 25th October 2020.

Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal also sent out a special message for all the students or medical aspirants who couldn’t qualify in the medical entrance exam. The minister took to twiter and said, "Students who couldn't make it, please don't feel disheartened. Opportunities in other sectors are waiting for you. An exam cannot define you. The country needs your intellect and acumen in those sectors."

Even after 1 hour of the official declaration time of NEET 2020 Result, the official website is still suffering from technical problems because of which candidates are unable to check their individual results. NEET 2020 is an all-India level medical entrance exam, which means that all medical colleges across the country, be it run by the Central Government like AIIMS or state-fun medical colleges; admission to all of them is done on the basis of marks secured by candidate in NEET 2020. Therefore, to facilitate seat allotment and admission process, the total number of medical seats on offer in the country have been divided into two category i.e. All India Quota and State Quota. For simplicity of understanding, of the total number of medical seats, 15% in all colleges are reserved for admission under AIQ, whereas rest 85% are allocated from State Quota.
