The National Institute of Fashion Technology Bhubaneswar celebrated convocation event 2018 at the campus of KIIT University near their campus. About 179 students from across 6 different disciplines graduated from the NIFT Bhubaneswar campus. The parents and relatives of many students came to motivate the students and join them for such joyous occasion. As per the reports, about eight students have bagged the gold medals, this year. Swapnil Pateria received ‘The Student of the Year’ Award and Aman Raj got the ‘NIFT Extraordinary Service” Award from the chief guests present for the convocation.
NIFT offers one Best Academic Performance Award for each department. According to the sources, Swapnil Pateria from PG-MFM, Pragya Ujjwali from BDes (Textile Design), Rashi Padhiyar from BDes (Accessory Design), Ms Smriti Johar from BDes (Fashion Design), Ms Annie Bhardwaj from BDes (Fashion Communication) and Mr Sandeep Mohanty from BFTech have bagged the Best Academic Performance Award from their respective departments.
The NIF T convocation began with the traditional convocation parade, the National Anthem, and an invocation ceremony, and was declared open. The Governor of Odisha, Professor Ganeshi Lal was present there as the Chief Guest, along with Padambibhusan Dr. Raghunath Mohapatra, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and noted Sculptor as Guest of Honour with the Director General of NIFT Sarada Murlaleedharan, Dean Academics, Professor Sharmila Dua and Director NIFT, Bhubaneswar, Professor Sanjay Shrivastava.
The Governor of Odisha shared his words of wisdom and wished all the students best in their life. He even shared his views that NIFT plays a very critical role right from its inception in making the Indian textiles, apparel and fashion industry competitive and ever growing. He claimed that the size and contribution of the fashion industry justify its need for an institution like NIFT.
