JEE Main 2019: The Human Resource Development (HRD) Ministry has released the final schedule for the Joint Entrance Main (JEE Main) examination. According to the schedule released by the ministry, the first examination will be conducted from January 6 to 20, 2019 and the second examination from April 6 to 20, 2019. Earlier, the ministry had decided to conduct the examination twice a year.
For the first session, the examination will be conducted in 8 sittings which will commence on January 6 and will end on January 20, 2019. The candidates who want to appear in the examination can download the admit cards from the official website of the NTA on December 17, 2018. The results of the first session will be announced on January 31, 2019.
The second session of JEE Main will commence from April 6 and will end April 20, 2019. The online submission of application forms is from February 8 to March 7, 2019. The candidates can download the admit cards on March 18, 2019. The second session of the JEE Main will also be held in 8 sittings. The results will be announced on April 30, 2019.
The candidates who are appearing for the examination must meet these criteria: A score of at least 75 per cent in class 12 board exams or a place among the top 20 percentile of the Boards is required to be eligible for JEE main or advanced. For candidates of the SC and ST categories, this has been lowered to 65 per cent Clearing the JEE mains and advanced papers will make candidates eligible for admission to Bachelor of Technology (B. Tech), Bachelor of Engineering (BE) and Bachelor of Architecture (B. Arch) courses at Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT), National Institutes of Technology (NITs) and Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs) across India.
About JEE Main Exam
The Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) is the national level competitive test to shortlist engineering aspirants for admission to undergraduate engineering programmes offered across India. Earlier it was known as All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE), the national level engineering entrance exam was rechristened as Joint Entrance Examination (Main) in April 2013. Generally speaking, the JEE Mains Result is used to determine rank / score of an engineering aspirant on the basis of which admission will be granted into National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), Centrally Funded Technical Institutes (CFTIs). Every year, around 13 lakh engineering aspirants from across the country appear for the JEE Main Exam and this year this number has grown quite significantly increasing the overall competition. As per the official JEE Main notification, the JEE Main 2018 Result is expected to be announced in the end of April and the JEE Main All India Ranks would also be declared on the same day.
