JEE Main

The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main which used to be conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will now be handled by the National Test Agency (NTA). The Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) is the national level competitive test to shortlist engineering aspirants for admission to undergraduate engineering programmes offered across India. Earlier it was known as All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE), the national level engineering entrance exam was rechristened as Joint Entrance Examination (Main) in April 2013.

It is believed that after taking over from the examination from the CBSE, the NTA is planning to make some major changes in the examination process According to the reports, the examination will be held twice a year. The first examination will be held in the month of January (within 6th to 20th January) and the second examination will be in the month April (within 7th to 21st April). For the January exam, the application forms will be available from 1st to 30th September and for the April exam, the application forms will be available from 2nd week of February.

It is also believed that the JEE Main will be conducted only in online mode from next year. Earlier, there was a provision for both online and offline format. There are also reports that NTA might increase the number of examination centers all across the country. However, NTA is in no mood to change the syllabus and pattern of the examination. According to the sources, the syllabus will remain the same.
