Odisha School sunday classes

According to a decision taken by the Odisha Government, there will not be any Sunday classes for the students from classes 10 and 12 from April onwards. The decision to stop the classroom teachings on Sunday was taken on March 10, 2021.

The Odisha state education department has instructed the schools to conduct classes for class 10 and 12 students to complete the syllabus. The state education minister Samir Ranjan Dash further added that the syllabus will be covered soon and the students are focusing on self-study for the upcoming board exams.

The state education minister visited a few schools and found low attendance in these two classes as students are focusing on self-revision and considering these points the state government has taken the decision to discontinue Sunday classes for 10th and 12th students from April.

Classes started from January

The education department started conducting classes for the students on Sunday from January 8, 2021, catering to the 100-day plan to complete the syllabus for classes 10 and 12 considering the board examinations. The classes were operated without a single break and this plan was
prepared considering the academic loss due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Odisha class 10 and 12 board examinations are scheduled to be conducted on May 3 and 8, 2021 and the government has also reduced the syllabus by 30 percent for the current academic year.

Other initiatives taken by the Odisha government include introducing the examination guide ‘Pariksha Darpan’ for the students from class 10 and 12 students. Considering the time required by the students to do self-study the government has decided not to conduct classes from April onwards.
