Odisha Schools to Reopen: As per the updates, the state government decided to reopen schools for class 10 and 12 students from 26th July. As per School and Mass Education Department secretary Satyabrata Sahu, the decision to reopen schools and resume physical mode of teaching for class 10 and 12 students was taken keeping in mind the problems faced by students in online teaching mode due to poor mobile (internet) connectivity. However, attending physical classes will be students' decision. schools will continue with online teaching for the rest including classes 10 and 12. The state government will soon issue SOP.
Reopening of Schools
The timing of the schools will be from 10 am to 1:30 pm. However, schools will continue with online teaching for all classes including classes 10 and 12. The Education Ministry also added that if the situation prevailing due to COVID-19 improves, students of class 9 will also be called for physical classes. Class 9 schools will re-open from 16th August 2021. It was also added that preparations have already been started for re-starting classes for class 11 from 15th September 2021.
As for class 11 students of Odisha, it has been said that schools will re-open for them only after the admission into Plus II courses has been completed. Education Secretary Satyabrata Sahu has also assured that no student will be forced to attend physical classes. Further, the district collector of the particular district will have a say on the re-opening of schools in Odisha for classes 10 and 12 in the concerned district.
He also mentioned that the schools that are hosting matric examinations will reopen only after the exams are over. Before reopening, all school teachers will be vaccinated on priority and the district education officers (DEOs) have been instructed to ensure that all the Covid-19 protocols are strictly followed.
Schools and colleges have been closed in Odisha due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Meanwhile, after reviewing the COVID-19 pandemic situation, the state decided to extend lockdown partially till 1 August in certain districts. In districts where the situation is better, the government has allowed certain easing of restrictions such as the opening of certain commercial places, the opening of shops.
Several states have been eventually opening up schools after the betterment of the COVID-19 scenario. Schools are being re-opened with strict adherence to COVID-19 guidelines.
