Telangana- Amidst the TS Inter Result 2019 fiasco, the Telangana High Court on Monday, directed Telangana State and its intermediate state board to re-evaluate the answer sheets of 3 lakh students by May 8, 2019. The Telangana HC has clearly ordered the Telangana Intermediate Board to first re-check the marks of those 3 lakh students who were declared as failed last week when TSBIE declared the result. Though the Telangana High Court is closed from next week, the bench said it would hold a special sitting for this case where the TS Inter Board must come up with the final result after re-checking.
The revaluation order has been given owing to the Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Achyuta Rao, Activist from Balala Hakkula Sangham (BHS) NGO. Rao, in his PIL, demanded ex-gratia for the families of the students who committed suicide over the TS Inter Results that were declared earlier. A total of 9 lakh students had appeared for the TS Intermediate exams that were held in February-March 2019.
C Damodar, Petitioners’ Counsel had requested the bench to order a re-evaluation of all the students’ answer sheets stating the TSBIE acted carelessly causing deaths of 21 students. The Acting CJ agreed to the petition but pushed that for later as the need of the hour was to rectify the problem immediately by May 8.
