TNOU inaugurates 91 Learner Support Centres, Exam Centres for govt college students

TNOU Learner support centre

The Tamil Nadu Open University has inaugurated Learner Support Centres and Exam Centres in 91 Government Arts and Science Colleges in the state. Minister for Higher Education Thiru KP Anbalagan conducted the inauguration of the LSCs and ECs.

The Tamil Nadu Open University offers 42 undergraduate and 38 postgraduate UGC recognised programmes. Principal Secretary to the Government, Higher Education Department - Selvi Apoorva IAS, Director, Directorate of Collegiate Education - Thiru K Vivekanandan IAS, Vice-Chancellor of TNOU - Professor K Parthasarathy,  Registrar, TNOU - Dr K Rathnakumar and several other university ns directorates of collegiate education officials were present during the inauguration ceremony.

During the inauguration of the LSCs and ECs, the Minister for Higher Education highlights that the open university has been working towards equipping the students of the open university to meet societal challenges and towards knowledge upgrade through Higher Education under the Open and Distance Learning system.

Skill Development for Government College students

Higher Education Department - Principal Secretary-Selvi Apporva during the inauguration said that the TNOU-LSCs in the Government Colleges will make it possible for the interested students of the government colleges to undergo any skill development programme through  16 Short Term, 24 Certificate, 4 Diploma, 14 Vocational Diploma and 2 Advanced Diploma Programmes.

High-Quality SLMs for students

As per a statement issued for all the TNOU programmes high-quality SLMs will be provided to the students. Higher Education and Agriculture Minister, Thiru K.P. Anbazhagan during the inauguration began the learner's enrolment at the colleges through the virtual platform and also issued ID Cards and SLMs to a few enrolled TNOU students. The Minister also pointed out that through the scheme the students who were unable to get admission in the interesting subject in the colleges or those who have already joined can enrol themselves for the skill-oriented programmes to develop their employability. The students enrolling in the programme will be awarded a Convocation Certificate by the TNOU after completion of the programmes.
