The University Grants Commission – Distance Education Council has approved the Distance Education programme for Chandigarh University to begin from January 2020 session. Chandigarh University Vice-Chancellor Dr. RS Bawa announced the new addition stating that the admissions for the distance and online education programmes will begin from January 2020.
The programme will be introduced in phases. The first phase will have 10 programmes which include BBA, MBA, BCA, MCA, BA, MA English, MA Psychology, BSc Travel and Tourism, B.Com and M.Com programme.
He stated that the students who will enroll under the distance and online programme will be offered placement assistance and foreign education academic programmes under the University International Academic Alliance programme (UIAA). The university also has introduced a choice based academic model which will be provided to the students enrolling in the distance education programme.
He further added that the students will be able to make use of the benefits which come from the NAAC A+ status of Chandigarh University since the degree will be acceptable globally. The students will also be able to transfer credits to any foreign university under the Washington Accord.
He also said that the university has a technology-driven academic delivery platform with the help of which the students from across the country will be able to access the academic learning material, e-lectures, e-library resources and other valuable additions of industry certifies programs which will enhance the learning and also enhance the job prospects of the students in the industry relevant to their course of study.
