In order to avoid any inconvenience for the candidates faced during the Kumbh Mela, the Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Board (UPSEB) has decided not to conduct any examinations for the class 10th and 12th during the shahi snan days of Kumbh Mela from next year. Kumbh Mela is considered as one of the world’s biggest gathering and is scheduled to begin from January 15 and would end on March 4 in 2019. Every year, the Uttar Pradesh Board Examination is conducted in the month of February or March. So, in order to make sure that the candidates do not face any problems, the board has decided to not conduct exam during this period.
The Uttar Pradesh board is preparing the examination timetable and is expected to publish it soon. As per the reports, the first snan is scheduled on Makar Sankranti, i.e. January 15, 2019. The other snans would be observed on Paush Purnima (January 21), Mauni Amavasya (February 4), Basant Panchami (February 10), Maghi Purnima (February 19) and Mahashivratri (March 4). The UP Board officials have stated that the increased traffic on roads would paralyse the movement of students and school vehicles. According to the sources, in a meeting with district officials that was convened recently in the city, deputy chief minister Dinesh Sharma had stated that preparations for Kumbh Mela and snan days would be considered while preparing the timetable for UP Board examinations. He even stated that the datesheet might be released in 16 days.
