The West Bengal Board of Secondary Examination (WBBSE) class 10 examinations will start from today. The Madhyamik examination (class 10) will be held from March 12 to March 21, 2018 at various test centres across the state.
Earlier, the board had released the examination schedule for Madhyamik examination (class 10) on the official website, the link for which is wbbse.org
The examination will begin from 11:45 am to 3 pm. The first 15 minutes will be for reading the question paper.
The examination will be held at 2,819 centres across all the districts in the state.
This year also the girl students have outnumbered boys in the Class 10 examination. Over 56 per cent of the candidates were girls, who had outnumbered boys last year also, said WBBSE Administrator Kalyanmoy Ganguly.
The total number of examinees this year is 11,02,921, of whom 6,21,366 are girls. The number of boys appearing in the examination is 4,81,555.
"While the percentage of girl students is 56.34, that of boys is 43.66," Ganguly said.
The total number of examinees increased by 31,075 this year, where the strength of girl students is 1,39,811 more than boys.
Last year, the number of girl candidates was 1,19,502 more than boys.

March 12: First languages (Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Modern Tibetan, Nepali, Odio, Gurmukhi (Punjabi), Telugu, Urdu, and Santali)
March 13: Second languages (English--if any language other than English is offered as First Language. Bengali or Nepali -- if English is the First Language)
March 14: Geography
March 16: History
March 17: Physical Science
March 19: Mathematics
March 20: Life Science
March 21: Optional elective subject
Note: The Board will announce the exam dates for physical education and social service and work education later.
