YouTube has seen a rise in Hindi content on its platform in the recent past and more importantly, the education-related content is attracting more users than ever before. According to reports, more and more users are showing interest in education content on the video sharing platform, with the videos on exam preparation and standardised tests being the most popular within education. A report published in TOI shows that Hindi has a considerable presence on YouTube and out of top 10 most popular education channels; at least 5 are in Hindi or Hindi and English both.
"We started the YouTube Channel in 2015 and initially it was was just a branding platform for us. However, encouraging response prompted us to expand. At the time, not many channels were providing content on competitive exams such as UPSC, PCS, SSC, IBPS etc. and current affairs. Further, there was even less content in Hindi, which is our major user base presently," Gaurav Garg, founder, Study IQ, was quoted as saying by TOI. Not only Hindi, other regional contents are seeing massive growth in watch time.
Meanwhile, Google-owned YouTube has decided to allow users to pause their YouTube TV membership from four weeks to six months instead of outright canceling it. "You can cancel or pause your YouTube TV membership at any time. When you cancel or pause your membership, you'll still have access to YouTube TV until the end of your payment period," YouTube TV Help wrote in a post. "When your paused state ends, you will automatically be charged at your normal monthly price for a new month of service, and that date becomes your new billing date," the post added.
