SRM University is popularly known as Sri RamaswamyMemorial University formerly known as SRM institute of science and technology. The university is a co-educational private university in the state of Tamil Nadu. The university was founded in the year 1985 and includes four campuses in Tamil Nadu, Vadapalani, and the other one is situated in Modinagar near Delhi, Sonepat in Haryana and Gangtok in Sikkim.
SRM offers various scholarships, fee waiver schemes, teaching assistance to its meritious and deserving students. There are various cultural and art programs organized every year to encourage students in participating creative pursuits and nurture talent.
The academic year for the same is divided into two semesters and each semester consists of three internal exams and one final exam for all theory subjects. The university also offers laboratory courses to the students and these courses usually have one internal exam followed by final exam. As far as the infrastructure is concerned the university is located about 40 Km away from the city of Chennai as this massive campus stands on sprawling 250 acre site and the main campus in Chennai consists of three colleges i.e. College of engineering and technology, college of medicine and health sciences, and college of science and humanities. The campus also accommodates SRM institute of Hotel Management, Arts College, engineering college and etc. The campus also consists of library which offers largest collection of books, journals, newspapers and many more. Not only this, university students are the first ones to organize cultural fests. These cultural fests include debate sessions, dance performances, essay writing competitions, and many more. Cultural fests include all sorts of competitive spirit on the part of students.
Admissions into engineering or other departments are purely done on the basis of entrance examinations. Candidates are required to clear the set offs and according to the same they will be provided admissions.
