TANCET here stands for Tamil Nadu common entrance test is an eligibility examination for studying post graduate courses like M.E, M.Tech, M. Arch, M. Plan, M.B.A, and M.C.A in colleges of Tamil Nadu. This examination is mainly conducted by the Anna University, Chennai.
As far as the examination and pattern of the same is concerned, the examination is conducted once a year during the last week of March. Duration of the examination is two hours and is split into various sections. According to the cut off and score of the candidate, admission process is started. As all courses include a certain eligibility criteria, TANCET also comprises of the same. The candidate applying for the same in post graduate courses such as MBA/ MCA should be a graduate from any recognized university of any discipline. Students in the final year of their respective programs can also apply for such courses. In the case of TANCET MCA, the candidate should have studied statistics/mathematics at their diploma /+2 level or graduation. In case of M. Tech, students should be bachelor of technology graduate and students of final year in B. Tech can also apply for the same.
Another significant aspect of such entrance examinations is that of study material. Students are supposed to wisely choose their study material. There are various coaching institutes that provide extensive training and guidance for such entrance examinations. Such institutes prepare the aspirants to face the existing test standards of the above mentioned post graduate courses.
The notifications for the examination dates and filling up of the forms have been out. For centers in Coimbator, Chidambaram, Dindigul, Madurai and many more the registration has been extended to Feb 22, 2014, for Chennai centers the date is for Feb 24th , 2014. Registration can be done on all days at all the centers between 9: 30 Am and 5: 30 pm. Forms can be filled either online or offline. Candidates applying online are required to send duly filled application form along with the demand draft and other documents as mentioned in the official notification. The application fee for each course is Rs 500, and candidates applying for more than one course are required to send in the application fee accordingly. The application fee is payable through demand draft drawn in favor of The Secretary, TANCET Anna university Chennai.
