JEE Advanced 2021 Result – Tie Breaker Formula

The tie-breaker formula is an important consideration for the candidates who appear for the JEE Advanced exam, especially when it comes to securing a rank for counseling. It I because in case two or more candidates secure the same number of marks in the JEE Advanced 2021 exam, the rank in the merit list will be decided on the basis of a tie-breaker formula. The tie-breaker formula is prepared to come-up with an unbiased final merit list for the aspirants. Take a look at the formulas as provided below:

  • If two or more candidates secure the same number of overall marks, candidate with higher marks in Mathematics will be ranked higher
  • If two or more candidate have same number of overall marks and marks in Mathematics, candidate with higher marks in Physics will be ranked higher

JEE Advanced 2021 – Counselling

JoSAA conducts counseling for the candidates who qualify the JEE Advanced exam. Candidates need to register to participate in the counseling process of JEE Advanced exam in order to seek admission in the IITs. Last year the JEE Advanced counseling began from 6th October 2021 onwards and candidates got limited time to register for the same. The JoSAA Counselling Process enables a candidate to choose course and college of their choice on the basis of the rank secured by them. The JEE Advanced Counselling Process is a gateway for admission to undergraduate programmes offered by IITs, NITs, IIITs & CFTIs. Seat allocation at IITs and other premier technology schools is done on the basis of choices selected by the candidates during the JEE Advanced 2021 counselling process. Candidates should note that criteria such as merit rank, and choice of the candidate and availability of seats at a particular institute hold prime weightage at the time of counseling. 

JEE Advanced 2021 Result – Points to Remember

Aspirants appearing for the JEE Advanced result must keep the following pointers in mind with regards to JEE Advanced result 2021:

  • IIT Kharagpur will not send JEE Advanced 2021 Result Scorecards / Rank Cards to any candidate individually.
  • Separate category-wise JEE Advanced 2021 merit list will be released by JoSAA for OBC (NCL), ST and SC candidates
  • Minimum marks required to qualify in the JEE Advanced 2021 exam will vary, as per the category of the candidate
  • Qualifying in JEE Advanced 2021 exam, participating in the common JoSAA counselling process doesn’t guarantee admission to IITs or ISM.
  • Admission to different IITs, NITs, ISM and CFITs will depend on the availability of the seats in the different counselling rounds.

JEE Advanced Result Toppers – Previous Year

The toppers of JEE Advanced had been released for the previous year (2020) by IIT Delhi. Last year, Gupta Kartikey Chandresh from Ballarpur, Maharashtra secured the AIR 1 or the All India Rank 1 in the JEE Advanced Exam. He scored 347 in the JEE Advanced exam.
