JEE Main 2019 April Result Declared: JEE Main 2019 April Result has been declared by the NTA. The National Testing Agency announced the JEE Main 2019 Result for the April Exam in the evening at around 9:10 PM. The result was announced online on the official website of the JEE Main Exam i.e. Students can now head-over to the website and check their JEE Main 2019 April Result as well as download the scorecard for exam directly from there. Candidates, who have appeared for both the exams i.e. January and April, will have their best score considered for the examination.

Talking about the delay, a source close to NTA added that all the answer sheets for JEE Main 2019 April exam have been processed and corrected. Along with JEE Main 2019 April Result, the NTA will also release other details like JEE Main Rank 2019 and the cut off for the JEE Advanced 2019 eligibility.

NTA JEE Main Results 2019 – Normalization Process

This year, the JEE Main Exam is being conducted in two Phases i.e. Phase 1 in January and Phase 2 in April. In order to derive a common merit list and JEE Mains Rank List, the NTA will follow a normalization of scores process. The percentile scores for all the candidates that appear for JEE Main 2019 will be prepared using the normalization process. Let’s try and understand what is the normalization process and how JEE Main 2019 Result scores will be calculated using it.

  • As per the official notification of the NTA for JEE Main 2019, the following normalization process would be followed to compile JEE Main Result 2019.
  • Classification of candidates into four different sessions
  • Each session to have equal number of candidates
  • Session-wise JEE Main Result 2019 will be compiled in three forms i.e.
    • Raw Score
    • Percentile Score
    • Total Percentile
  • The Percentile scores for the Total Raw Score for all the four sessions (for instance, Session-1: Day-1 Shift-1, Session2: Day-1 Shift-2, Session-3: Day-2 Shift-1 and Session-4: Day-2 Shift-2) will then be merged and will be called as NTA scores.
  • This NTA Score will be used for compilation of result and preparation of overall Merit List / Ranking.
  • The Raw Score and the Percentile score will be calculated separately for the three subjects for each session. Check the image below.

JEE Mains Result 2019 - Percentile Score

In line with the other entrance exams like the CAT MBA entrance exam, this year, the JEE Main exam result will also be announced in terms of percentile. The JEE Main Percentile score will be calculated by ranking the performance of one candidate against all the others who have appeared for the examination. Simply put, the percentile score for JEE Main 2019 Result describes the comparative position of the candidate with regards to all the candidates who have appeared for the examination.

For instance, if 100 candidates appeared in the JEE Main exam and you managed to score more marks as compared to the 99 other candidates, you would secure 99 percentile.

JEE Mains Result 2019 - Raw Score

JEE Main Raw Score is basically the marks that are scored by the candidates in the examination. The marks listed as raw score in JEE Main Result 2019 are secured by the candidates as per the marking scheme of the exam as notified by the National Testing Agency / NTA. As per the JEE Main 2019 marking scheme, candidates are awarded 4 marks for each correct answer and 1 mark is deducted for every incorrect answer. This, the final JEE Main 2019 Result raw score would be the final figure that is obtained by adding the marks awarded for all the correct answers and deducting the marks for incorrect answers from them.

Preparation of JEE Main 2019 Merit List / JEE Main Rank List

NTA will follow the following process for the compilation of the JEE Main 2019 Results and JEE Main 2019 Rank or Merit list.

Step 1: Compilation of NTA Score for Phase 1 (January)

The JEE Main 2019 Phase 1 Exam was conducted in multi-sessions. Therefore, the NTA will also compile the JEE Mains Result 2019 for the Phase 1 in multiple sessions. The NTA score for each session will be compiled on the basis of Raw scores obtained by the candidates. The result will comprise the four NTA scores for each of the three subjects (Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry) and the total for the first attempt.

Step 2: Compilation of NTA Score for Phase 2 (April)

Similarly, the JEE Main Result for Phase 2 i.e. the exam which was conducted in the April will be compiled using the same method followed in the Phase 1. The NTA score for Phase 2 will be calculated session-wise on the basis of Raw scores of the test-takers. The result will be displayed by calculating the NTA scores for all the sessions merged together.

Step 3: Preparation of JEE Main 2019 Result and JEE Main 2019 Merit List

Based on the NTA Scores of Phase 1 (January Exam) and Phase 2 (April Exam) will be used to prepare the final JEE Main 2019 Result and the JEE Main Merit List for 2019. For the candidates who have appeared for both, Phase 1 and Phase 2 exams, the best of the two NTA Scores will be considered for the preparation of the merit list.

JEE Main 2019 Paper 1 (B.Tech / B.E) Result - Tie Breaker Criteria

In case two candidates secure the equal marks in the JEE Main 2019 Paper 1 Result, the following tie-breaker formula will be applied to prepare the merit list:

  • Step 1: Candidate with higher marks in Mathematics will be ranked higher in the merit
  • Step 2: For candidates who score equal marks in Mathematics, candidate with higher marks in Physics will be ranked higher in the merit
  • Step 3: For candidates who secure equal marks in Maths and Physics, candidate with higher NTA score in Chemistry will be ranked higher in the merit
  • Step 4: If the tie is still unresolved, candidate older in age will be taken into consideration

JEE Main 2019 Paper 2 Result – Tie Breaker Criteria

Similar to the JEE Main Paper 1, for JEE Main Paper 2 Result as well, the tie-breaker formula will be as follows:

  • Step 1: Candidate scoring higher in the Aptitude Test will be ranked higher in the merit list
  • Step 2: For candidates who have equal marks in the Aptitude test, candidate higher marks in Drawing test will be ranked higher in the merit
  • Step 3: If the tie is still unresolved, candidate older in age will be taken into consideration
