Tripura board of secondary education was established in 1973, under the act known as Tripura board of secondary education act, 1973 as passed by Tripura legislative assembly. The board started its functioning from 1st of January 1976. Before all these moves, the high and higher secondary schools of Tripura came under the West Bengal board of education. After the affiliation, the board of education decided to adopt the syllabus of central board of education for Tripura Board Madhyamikand higher secondary examinations.
