This year, a total of 67,93,034 students had registered for the examinations in comparison to 64.23 lakh examinees of previous year; 37,49,977 students for high school (34,98,430 examinees in 2015) and 30,43,057 students for intermediate examination (29,24,768 candidates in 2015). In comparison to previous year, 3.69 lakh more students have taken up the examinations (2.51 lakh in Class 10 and 1.18 lakh in Class 12).
Previous year, the Intermediate examination had female candidates in the first and second rank, while the high school examination was topped by male candidate. While 88.83% was the pass percentage of Intermediate examination, 83.74% was that of the high school examination. The year 2015, saw greater pass percentage in girls. In the Intermediate exam, pass percentage for girls was 92.16% (85.91% for boys) while in high school examination it was 88.34% (79.73% for boys).
