The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) conducts the West Bengal Higher Secondary (Class 12) Examinations, for which about 8 Lakh students appear across the state every year.

West Bengal Higher Secondary Result 2016 will be announced by the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) which came into the existence on the 3rd May 1951 under the state legislature act of West Bengal. In the year 1964 the board was renamed as the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education for 10th examination. Last year around 5, 68,015 numbers of students appeared for the 12th examination which is comparatively less than the figure of students appeared in the year 2015. The average percentage was 77.26% in the year 2015 in which boys scored 79.44% and girls scored 75.08%. In the year 2015 total 7, 43,000 students appeared in 12th examination and the average passing percentage was 77.35%.

The Government of West Bengal has established the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education, under West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education, Act 1975. The council is the main body which looks after the education system in the 10+2. The main function of the board is to conduct examinations and provide curriculum to the students. Not only this, the distribution of books to the aspirants is also done by the board of education. In the year 1952, the board handled only 42000 examinees which increased to five lakhs in 1976 and 8 lakhs in 2002. Also the pass percentage of the students has progressively increased and the number of students participating in the same has also risen as compared to the past five year status. The board also provides schlorship to the students who excel in these examinations.
