Vice Admiral Ajendra Bahadur Singh, AVSM, VSM took over as Chief of Staff, Western Naval Command, succeeding Vice Admiral Ravneet Singh, AVSM, NM. Prior to his appointment to the post, Vice Admiral AB Singh served as the Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Strategic Forces Command.

Indian Navy conducts Exercise Naseem-Al-Bahr with Oman Navy

The Indian Navy ships along with four Royal Navy of Oman ships Al Rasikh, Khassab, Al Mubashir and Al Bushra are currently sailing for the sea phase of the exercise. India, Sri Lanka complete 2nd phase of joint oceanographic survey

The Indian Navy in collaboration with the Sri Lankan navy successfully completed the second phase of the joint oceanographic survey conducted off the South Western Coast of Sri Lanka. The survey was initiated on 26 October 2017 with the arrival of the Indian Naval Ship Sutlej in Sri Lanka.

INS Kalvari, first Scorpene-class submarine commissioned into Indian Navy

Defence Ministry approves procurement of 260 naval communication sets

The Union Ministry of Defence has approved procurement of 260 Software Defined Radios (SDR) for the Indian Navy. The decision was taken at a meeting of the Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) chaired by Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. Shubhangi Swaroop becomes first woman to be inducted as Pilot in Indian Navy

India, Japan begin anti-submarine warfare exercise

The naval forces of India and Japan have initiated an intensive air anti-submarine warfare exercise in the Indian Ocean. Indian Navy commissions INS Tarasa at Mumbai

INS Tarasa is the fourth and last of the follow-on Water Jet FAC's built by the Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE), Kolkata. The first two ships of the class i.e. IN ships Tarmugli and Tihayu were commissioned in 2016 and are based at Visakhapatnam; while the third ship INS Tillanchang was commissioned at Karwar in March 2017. These ships are an upgrade of the Car Nicobar class Fast Attack Crafts with the Indian Navy, which were also indigenously designed and built by GRSE, Kolkata.
