Qatar donates $50 million to UN Relief agency for Palestinians

Qatar has announced a $50 million donation to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees. The move comes after the announcement from the United States in January 2018 that it would be withholding aid worth $65m from the UN relief agency for Palestinians.

India successfully test-fires nuclear capable ballistic missile Prithvi-II

This was the third test launch of an Indian missile this year. Earlier, Indian Army conducted successful trials of Agni-V on 18 January 2018 and Agni-I missile on 6 February 2018 from Abdul Kalam Island off Odisha coast. The last successful user trial of Prithvi-II missile was carried out on June 2, 2017 from the same base.

Jerome H Powell sworn in as 16th Chairman of Federal Reserve

His appointment as the Fed Chairman was approved by the US Senate in January 2018. Powell was nominated for the post in November 2017 by President Donald Trump. Powell succeeds Janet Yellen, the first woman to lead the US central bank in its 100-year history.
