The Chinese military on Thursday alleged that an Indian unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) ‘intruded’ into China's airspace and ‘crashed’ without furnishing any details about when and where it happened.

"The Indian UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) intruded into China's airspace and crashed recently, and Chinese border troops have conducted identification and verification over the vehicle," Xinhua news agency quoted Zhang Shuili, deputy head of the combat bureau of the Western Theater Command's joint staff department, as saying.

The Western Theater Command has been formed recently and is the largest of the five military divisions in China. Tibet which shares a border with India comes under it.

The Chinese military has expressed strong dissatisfaction and opposition to the intrusion.

"India's move has infringed upon China's territorial sovereignty and we are strongly dissatisfied with and opposed to this. We will fulfil our mission and responsibility and defend China's national sovereignty and security resolutely," he added.

The incident has been reported just few days ahead of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi’s scheduled visit to India on December 11. Wang will attend the foreign ministerial meet of Russia, India, and China.

India is yet to react to the incident, which could prove to be a roadblock in the efforts by both the sides to set ties on track after Doklam standoff which lasted for 72 days.

Last week, the People Liberation Army (PLA) said it had the right to deploy troops as it saw fit in Doklam, which China claims but India and Bhutan see as Bhutanese.
