Kurma started operating a taxi on the 140-kilometre route after earning her master's degree in economics from Osmania University to support her family financially.

She initially hesitated but sought assistance from a friend after coming to Mumbai to meet CM Shinde and ask for financial help to accomplish her dream of studying abroad.

She received the scholarship with the help of Sumant Bhanthe, and she is now ecstatic as she gets ready to leave for her study trip to the UK.
