A big day for the Indians as ISRO’s third lunar mission Chandrayaan-3 is all set for its soft landing on the moon. Here we bring the list of the top 7 historic moments in the history of space!

Aryabhata

India's first satellite, Aryabhata was developed by the ISRO on April 19, 1975, and launched as part of the Soviet Interkosmos program by the Soviet Union.

SLV-3

India's first experimental satellite was launched on July 18, 1980. It was able to launch payloads weighing 40 kg into Low Earth Orbit (LEO).

PSLV

The third-generation launch vehicle produced by India is the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV), which is also the country's first launch vehicle with liquid stages.

Chandrayaan-I

The first Indian mission to the moon was Chandrayaan-1. Launched by ISRO in October 2008, it was the first unmanned lunar probe under the Chandrayaan program.

Mars Orbiter Mission

India's first interplanetary mission was called the Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM). Following NASA, India became the fourth space agency to reach Mars orbit.

GSLV

Indian Space Research Organisation has also created the Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV), which is another outstanding invention.
