Who is CV Raman?
The full name of CV Raman was Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman, a popular Indian physicist. He won the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1930 for his innovation.
Early beginnings
CV Raman was born in Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu on November 7, 1888, in a South Indian Brahmin family.
Family background
CV Raman's father Chandrasekhara Ramanathan Iyer was a famous lecturer in mathematics and physics at a college in Visakhapatnam.
Sincere student
He was one of the most sincere students, as when he was just 11 he passed his matriculation and 12th grade on a scholarship.
Higher education
In 1904, CV Raman earned his graduate degree from the Presidency College. He also earned a Masters degree in Physics.
Contribution in science
CV Raman’s contribution in Mathematics and Science helped India in innovative research. He founded the Raman Effect on 28 February, 1928.
National Science Day
Every year on February 28 , the National Science Day is celebrated to honour the contribution of CV Raman in Science and Math.
Indian Journal of Physics
In 1926, CV Raman also established the Indian Journal of Physics and served as the President of the Current Science Association in Bangalore.
