Renamed in 1947
The Indian Air Force was renamed Royal Indian Air Force following India's 1947 declaration of independence. However, the prefix Royal was dropped when India became a republic in 1950.
Fourth largest Airforce
The Indian Airforce was founded on October 8th, 1932. After the United States, Russia, and China, it has the fourth-largest air force in the world, with about 139,576 active people, 140,000 reserve personnel, and 1,748 or more aircraft.
HAL HF-24 Marut: Spirit of the Tempest
It was a fighter-bomber aircraft created by HAL with Kurt Tank serving as the principal designer. This was the first jet aircraft produced in India and the first jet fighter-bomber in Asia to complete manufacture and enter active service.
Largest Airforce Station
The largest in Asia and eighth largest in the world, the IAF's Hindon Air Force Station is located close to Ghaziabad. Siachen Glacier AFS, which is located at a height of 22,000 feet (or 6,706 meters), is the highest Air Force Station.
IAF roundel changes
IAF's tricolor roundel and the national flag are displayed in the first quadrant of its blue flag, which was adopted in 1951. The IAF Roundel (logo on the aircraft and IAF flag) has undergone at least four changes since 1933.
