Why Is National Education Day Celebrated?
The National Education Day is celebrated to commemorate the birth anniversary of the first Education Minister Maulana Abul Kalam Azad.
Azad has contributed to the set up of several academic institutes such as University Grants Commission (UGC), All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), and Secondary Education Commission.
Maulana Azad was also awarded Bharat Ratna, country's highest civilian award in 1992.
The theme of National Education Day 2022 is "Changing course, Transforming Education". This theme indicates that there is a need of reforming the education system and make it adaptable to the current times.
Schools authorities conduct different types of educational programs and seminars to celebrate this day.
