Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs)

IITs select candidates through one of the world's hardest engineering examinations, JEE Advanced. In 2024, there were around 180,200 candidates, of which only 48,248 qualified.

All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS)

'AIIMS, India’s premier medical institute, strictly considers NEET scores for admissions. With a higher number of applicants than available seats, only the top candidates get admission.'

National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bangalore

NLSIU admits students through CLAT with a set level of difficulty for legal reasoning and interpretation. There are very high cut-off marks, which make it extremely difficult for students wanting to pursue law.

Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore

IISc is very well known for its research programs and offers them to students who qualify through JEE Advanced or GATE. It is very competitive.

Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Delhi

JNU is known for its entrance examinations with particular focus on analytical skills in the humanities and social sciences. These subjects have a very high rejection rate.

National Institutes of Technology (NITs)

NITs offer admission through JEE Main. There are lakhs of applicants every other year, consisting of the NITs based in Manipal, Warangal, and Trichy, which are ranked extremely high.

St. Stephen's College, Delhi University

St Stephen's has one of the highest course cut-offs in India, being above 98%. Admissions include a CUET score and an interview.

Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC), Delhi

Each year, only a handful of students get admitted because of SRCC’s exceedingly high cut-off for CUET, making it the best college for commerce in India.
