World Water Day is observed on March 22 every year to highlight the significance of water and to create awareness.

Purpose of the day -

This day is to promote the achievement of SDG 6 which aims to provide access to clean water and sanitation for everyone by 2030.

Objective -

The objective is to inspire everyone to manage freshwater resources sustainably and take necessary actions to address these issues.

The theme for World Water Day 2023 is Accelerating the change to solve the water and sanitation crisis.

According to the UN -

There are billion of people as well as farms and factories who lack access to safe water and sanitation facilities.

History of the day -

The resolution to observe World Water Day was first adopted by the UN General Assembly on 22 December 1992.

Significance of the day -

World Water Day plays a crucial role in achieving water security, protecting ecosystems and improving the health well-being of people around the world.
