Established in 1965 as Tripura Engineering College. It was later declared a National Institute of Technology (NIT) in 2006 by the Government of India. NIT Agartala is one of the <a href="https://www.jagranjosh.com/colleges/engineering">best engineering colleges in India</a>. Currently, it ranks on the 91st position in the field of Engineering by NIRF rankings 2023. Located in Barjala, the college is famous for its B.tech flagship program. It is one of the 30 National Level Technical Institutes set up by the Government of India. NIT Agartala is the first NIT in India to have a Kendriya Vidyalaya set up within the institute.

NIT Agartala is declared as the &lsquo;Institution of National Importance&rsquo; by the Ministry of Education (MOE), Government of India. It offers admission to undergraduate, postgraduate and doctorate programmes in <a href="https://www.jagranjosh.com/exams/engineering">engineering exam</a> courses. Admission to the programmes is based on various national/state-level entrance examinations. Candidates are required to appear for the respective entrance examination to fulfil the NIT Agartala selection criteria to be eligible for admission. The placement and training office of NIT Agartala is known as the Centre for Career Development (CCD), and it assists students with various placement opportunities. It is in charge of the NIT Agartala placement drive. It has a campus size of 365.6 acres with a student and faculty count of 3803 and 203 respectively.&nbsp;
