University of Mumbai, which is popularly known as Mumbai University is a state university, established in 1857. It is one of the oldest and premier universities in India and the largest universities in the world. Recognised by the UGC and accredited with an &lsquo;A++&rsquo; grade by the NAAC. Mumbai University is ranked at 56th position in the university category and 96th position in the overall category as per NIRF rankings 2023.

Mumbai University offers undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral courses. Admission to the courses is based on both merit and entrance examination. Candidates must fulfil the Mumbai University admission criteria to be eligible for the courses. Mumbai University has a dedicated placement cell that handles the overall placement activities. The MU placement cell invites companies from different sectors to conduct placement drive every year. The placement cell conducts pre-placement talks where companies interact with students. Moreover, the placement cell organises training sessions for the students, which develop their interpersonal skills and prepare them for the final interview. The placement cell acts as a bridge between students and recruiters. Mumbai University placement cell activities involve mock interviews, aptitude training, workshops, seminars, career guidance and communication skill development.
