The West Bengal government has decided and passed the 'Aparajita' bill. This bill comes in action to improve decision making powers against sexual and rape offenses.
What is Aparajita' bill?
Aparajita' bill was introduced after the incident of the tragic rape and murder of a trainee doctor last month at RG Kar Medical Centre and Hospital.
2-day assembly session
The government of West Bengal called for a 2-day assembly sessions to pass the Aparajita' bill to give justice for the rape victims and their murders.
Anti-Rape Bill
The West Bengal government’s Aparajita Woman and Child Bill, 2024, also known as the Anti-Rape Bill aims to strengthen current laws on sexual and rape offenses.
Suggest changes
This bill suggest changes in the following national laws such as Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita 2023, the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita 2023, and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act 2012.
Death Penalty
This bills contains the punishment of death penalties for those who were involved in the rape cases as a result of their crime. This bill improves the on going situations.
Speedy investigation
The bill hopes for a speedy investigation into rape cases that must be completed within 21 days with a possible extension of up to 15 days, that extension must be justified.
Privacy Protections
This bill also introduce penalties for unauthorise printing house that are publishing court proceedings related to rape cases. They have to face a punishments of 3 to 5 years in jale.

The Aparajita' bill is passes by the government of West Bengal, now the President of India Draupadi Murmu will signs it and it will come in action.
