He dominated the world of chess from 2007 to 2013 which is 6 years. He is the only Indian who won the title of world championship in the Match, Tournament and Knockout formats.

Childhood

He was born in Tamil Nadu, India on 11 December 1969. He is an inspiration to many people to pursue chess as a career. He gained popularity for his performances.

schooling

Viswanathan completed his education at Don Bosco Matriculation Higher Secondary School before joining Loyola College, Chennai. At the age of 6, he started playing chess.

National chess champion

His mother motivated him to play chess and he became national Sub-Junior at the age of 14 only. At the age of 16, he became the national chess champion and a versatile player.

India’s first grandmaster

He won the title of World Junior Chess Championship in 1897 and became the first Indain to do so at the age of 18 years. He became the youngest Indai’s first Grandmaster.

Educational Qualifications

Viswanathan earned a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce and then he pursued his career in chess. Viswanathan got married to Aruna in 1996 and has one son.
