Multiplying by 15

To multiply a number by 15, multiply it by 10, then add half of the result to reach the final answer. Consider 4 x 15. Multiplying 4 by 10 gives 40, and adding half 20 gives 60.

Multiplying by 11

In order to multiply a two-digit number by 11, add the digits together and place the result between them. For example, 23 × 11 is calculated by adding 2 + 3 to get 5, and placing it between 2 and 3 to get 253.

Multiplying by 5

To quickly multiply any number by 5, divide the number by 2 and then multiply by 10. For instance, 28 × 5 is 28/2 = 14 and 14 × 10 = 140.

Multiplying by 12

You can multiply any number by 12 quickly and effortlessly. Let's try it with 7x12. First, multiply 7 by ten. Then multiply 7 by two. Finally, combine everything together. Example: 7 x 12 7 x 10 = 70, 7 x 2 = 14 so 70 + 14 = 84.

Multiplying by 9 Using Fingers

To multiply any single-digit number by 9, hold out both hands and fold down the finger of the number you're multiplying. For instance, to multiply 6 by 9, fold down your sixth finger. You'll have 5 fingers on the left and 4 fingers on the right, making 54.
