Avinashilingam Institute for Home Science &amp; Higher Education for Women is a women's Deemed University, located in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India. It was established in 1957 by the Avinashilingam Education Trust and founded by T. S. Avinashilingam Chettiar as Avinashilingam Home Science College for Women, which later became a university. Presently, it is the largest institution in the country for home science education. It has received approval by the UGC (University Grants Commission). Avinashilingam University is ranked at 81st position as per NIRF rankings 2023.

AIHSHEW Coimbatore offers undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral courses. Admission to the courses is based on entrance examinations. Candidates must fulfil the Avinashilingam University admission criteria to be eligible for the courses. Avinashilingam University placement cell conducts various activities to prepare students for final placements. The institute provides proper training to students and provides them with internship opportunities for their practical learning. The companies then conduct the placement process starting with aptitude tests, pre-placement talks, group discussions and personal interviews. The companies then give offer letters to the shortlisted candidates in the placement process. It has a campus size of 110.98 acres with a student and faculty count of 8108 and 325 respectively.
